姜武錫跟著李麟和桃夏去尋找蠇龍，師譚的手下奉命阻止他們，他們最後無功而返。姜武錫覺得自己瘋了，所以才會相信李麟和桃夏的話，這世界上根本不存在鬼怪。在他抱怨的時候，李麟看到一個身影從面前經過，他們追了過去，在那個身影所經過的地方，人們紛紛得了天花。
皇城內出現天花，一時間，城中到處都是因為天花死去的人們。看著滿地的屍體，李麟三人愁眉不展，桃夏猜測這是天花神所為，李麟這才知道先前看到的那個身影就是天花神。他們找到趙尚憲，希望能商量出對策。
姜武錫夢到妹妹仁花託夢給他，正要對他說什麼的時候，天花神出現帶走玲花。師譚借仁花的名義，誣陷李麟帶來天花神，導致城中瘟疫橫行。流言四起，矛頭直指李麟。
順著瘟疫的發病軌跡，趙尚憲推算出今晚天花神會到的地方，他前往阻止。天花神見勢不妙，在趙尚憲發病之時逃走，趙尚憲追上去，就要重創天花神，卻被仁花所傷。李麟和桃夏及時趕來，救了趙尚憲，他們尾隨天花神至梅蘭房。
因著趙尚憲的傷勢嚴重，擔心他的安危，李麟和桃夏讓他不要再出面，所有的事情由他們來做。然而，不經訓練擅自使用巡夜武器是很危險的事，趙尚憲並不同意李麟和桃夏冒險。
